Terms of Service

Known & Building is a software-as-a-service platform that helps experienced leaders develop and communicate their executive value, prepare for interviews, and evaluate career opportunities. The Service provides guided assessments, AI-assisted synthesis of the information you supply, generated career materials (such as an Executive Identity Profile, résumé variants, interview preparation guides, and company intelligence briefs), and related tools. Available features may change over time.

You must provide accurate information when you create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use the Service.

Access to paid features requires an active subscription. We currently offer monthly and annual plans. Fees are quoted on the pricing page and are exclusive of applicable taxes. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your full payment card details.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for that plan, on the same payment method, until you cancel. Prices may change; we will provide reasonable notice before a price change takes effect on your next renewal.

You may cancel renewal at any time from your Account page. Cancellation stops your next scheduled charge and does not immediately terminate access — your subscription continues through the end of the paid term. Refund eligibility is governed by our Refund Policy.

You agree not to (a) misuse the Service or interfere with its operation; (b) attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data; (c) upload content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or that you do not have the right to submit; (d) use the Service to impersonate another person; (e) resell, sublicense, or share your account with others; or (f) scrape or extract content in bulk.

Many features are generated with the help of large-language-model AI. AI output can be incorrect or incomplete and is intended to support your judgement, not replace it. Generated career materials are drafts you should review, edit, and verify before relying on them for decisions or sharing them with third parties. AI-generated guidance is not legal, financial, employment, medical, or placement advice.

“Your Content” means résumés, work history, answers to prompts, uploaded documents, and any other information you submit to the Service. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant Known & Building a limited license to host, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service and to generate the deliverables you request.

You are responsible for what you submit. Do not upload third-party confidential information you are not authorized to share.

You own the specific written text and documents generated for you based on Your Content (the “Generated Materials”), subject to the licenses to underlying frameworks below. You may use, print, and share Your Generated Materials in the normal course of your career.

Known & Building owns the Service, its underlying methodology, frameworks, prompts, layouts, brand assets, and all software (the “Platform IP”). We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Platform IP through the Service during your subscription. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, resell, or create derivative products from the Platform IP.

The Service is designed to help you present your value more clearly. Career outcomes — interviews, offers, promotions, and compensation — depend on many factors beyond our control, and we do not guarantee any specific outcome.

We work to keep the Service available, but we do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may perform maintenance, add or remove features, and update the Service from time to time.

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service, our users, or third parties. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. Upon termination, sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms) will survive.

Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

The Service and all Generated Materials are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of AI output, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Known & Building will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$100.

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you and re-request your acceptance in-product. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in Delaware will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that is not subject to informal resolution.
